The Overview

Facet Fusion (Allograft Soltion) Technique for Lumbar Fusion was frist introduced in March 2006 by Dr. David Petersen in USA. Today, over 3,000 cases have been performed with excellent clinical results. Facet Fusion is a low risk, effective, minimally invasive surgical solution. Facet Fusion may also benefit later in life by reducing the need for additional surgery required to address spinal segment instability.

Indications:

  • Isolated facet based back pain that is refractory to conservative measures.
  • Stabilization of the lumbar spine following decompressive procedures or where minor instability exists or presents post-operatively.
  • Minor instability (1-2mm listhesis).
  • Posterior supplemental fixation to interbody fusion.
  • Adjunct to motion limiting devices.
Contraindications:
  • Trauma.
  • High grade spinal instability.
  • Spondyloysis.
  • Spondylolisthesis - greater than grade 1.

Stabilizes the spine and reduces pain.
Performed minimally invasive or open procedure.
Cost effective, reduces O.R. time, and decreases hospital stay.
Instrumentation increases procedure safety.
Reduces patient blood loss and high patient satisfaction.
Textured surface provides graft stability and resistance to graft migration.
